The ramson (Allium ursinum) is a plant in the daffodil family. The oval leaves are 3 to 5 centimetres wide, dark green and parallel-nerved. The flowers of the plant have six white petals and are grouped in loose, globular umbels. The plant occurs in almost all of Europe, with the exception of the Mediterranean region. The taste of ramson is between mild chives and strong garlic. It has a huge popularity in Germany. They use it in soups and salads, with vegetables and under cottage cheese and plain cheese, or use ramson in aioli and vinaigrettes. Although it tastes like garlic, it doesn't leave you with bad breath.
